So, today my destination was Southport to try my luck with the snow goose. The big numbers started to appear as the tide fell back of course, and the birds began to feed on exposed banks north towards Hightown. Nothing out of the ordinary (there are often one or two Golden Plover lurking in the Blitz Beach debris during winter), but by carefully staying out of sight and off the rubble beach itself the waders were easy enough to check through. Yes, we are aware this is a bar however, as first-time patrons, we would like to revisit in the future, hoping that the food is up-to-par with the Gray Goose's overall experience.Low cloud and cold, although it was a peaceful pleasure counting along the coast north of Hall Road this morning over the tide, with barely a breath of wind. While the atmosphere is definitely welcoming, lively, cozy, and quintessential New England, and the staff quite accommodating, the food quality could benefit from some improvement. The Gray Goose restaurant, like the town its landed in, Southport, Connecticut, has an eye on each side of the pond. Indulge in all of your favorite American classics with a trip to the definitive standard in town at Gray Goose. Gray Goose is a bit of a splurge at around 50 to 75 for a meal. For $18, one would certainly hope that they'd receive a good value for their money (even in Southport). Gray Goose is surrounded by endless parking, including options for valet, street and garage parking. However, much to our surprise, while the burger's menu description seemed appealing, the same cannot be said about its taste and accompanying sides. We were enthused to finally order a popular menu item (a burger) one that had been recommended to us on multiple occasions. Firstly, kudos to the Gray Goose team for operating their kitchen on a stormy, snowy Saturday night.
